How does DNS works?

The internet is a network of connected computers either publicly available or within a private, internal network. These computers and resources are all assigned an IP address. The domain name system (i.e., “DNS”) is responsible for translating domain names into a specific IP address so that the initiating client can load the requested Internet resources. The domain name system works much like a phone book where users can search for a requested person and retrieve their phone number.

Prerequisites

  • Registered a domain name - You can't point a domain at a website if you don't own a domain name! If you haven't got yourself a domain name yet then you can start by reading the article How to Register Your Own Domain Name.

  • An active hosting plan - Your web host is where your website files are kept and you'll need a host to provide you with the DNS settings (or Domain Name Servers) you need to point the domain at your hosting.

Do remember that DNS changes take a couple of hours to reflect.

Connecting your domain to your hosting

In order to connect your domain with our hosting, you need to update your domain nameservers to our nameservers which have been already sent to you when you signed up for a hosting account.

Finding your nameservers

  • Login to your domain registrar account and select your domain. Find the option to update your nameservers. If you just bought the domain name, you will find out some default nameservers usually set by your domain registrars.

Adding nameservers

  • After logging in, Remove all existing nameservers and replace it with our nameservers.

    ns2.wexronhosting.com

  • Hit save, and all you need to do is wait. It may take up to 48 hours to propagate (DNS propagation time) throughout the internet.

Once it's done, your website would be up and running and ready to be served for your needs.
